Olsen: “When did the Constitution become negotiable?”

What does Charlie Sheen and “Winning” have to do with Canadians wanting more hockey? Read on my friends…..Dos Equis or not!

Gotta love it, eh?

Canada, you are getting a taste now why hockey in Glendale has always been a political battle. And my theory is that there are investors in Abu Dhabi that have become a nightmare for the City of Glendale. Attached to them are the names that put the investors in touch, so to speak, with “the deal”, and they are all hoping the big penalty doesn’t come in to play. And no, it’s not even close to a game misconduct, far worse in fact. The game misconduct is in not providing the game of usury debt streams.

If it were not a political battle then, as argued before, this case would have been over a long time ago.

My daughter likes to blurt regularly, “Get over yourself”, whenever someone seems a little self righteous. And when I hear people tell us they have “told us” something many times before I agree with her. That’s what will make this situation and the far out angle we have taken come home to roost. So, excuse me for rubbing it in here shortly.

If indeed this was a pure battle of what makes the most economic hockey sense from a pure profit angle, Jim Balsillie would be putting the finishing touches on the new state of the art arena. The only issue would probably have been what to name the arena. Do we change it from Copps to RIM, or something else? What a dilemma that would be. The problem du jour would be a whole lot different than where we are today. Canadians you could simply keep focused on what you always wanted to focus on coming to makeiteighteh.com – - talk on the Coyotes and giving you the trash on the corruption. You could come looking for any dirt that would suggest Hamilton, or Winnipeg, or Quebec might get hockey back.

And worst of all, you might still be thinking if we don’t piss off Gary Bettman, we may actually get him to see Canada as a deserving place to put more hockey. Be good fellow Canucks, Gary seems to be happy about Canada today! Don’t rock the boat. Phewie! Wake up! It’s time to tip the boat over because it has a leak caused by years of corruption. The same corruption that has taken over the U.S. government and is trashing that Constitution!

When Gary Bettman asked who the Goldwater Institute answers to, he might as well have said, “Didn’t they get the memo on the new economy?” Who do they answer to indeed! Wow! Some entity not in on the taxpayer wealth stripping party! Absurd!

I am going to insert a very loaded interview between Brahm Resnik who is a broadcaster in Phoenix, but first and foremost a Canadian. He is interviewing Darcy Olsen of the Goldwater Institute that has the Constitution of the United States of America on her side. And, in a country where the current White House Administration views the Constitution as a thorn in the side of the real agenda, she is a refreshing change of pace from Corruption Incorporated. You know Brahm as the man with the twitter account who, like a gracious Canadian, answers everybody!

He even answered a good friend of mine that wrote an article for this site way back when that showed some detail about the Jobing.com bond issue – - a bubble within a bubble. Eloquently put I would say. Unfortunately Resnik  at the outset commented to him that there didn’t seem to be a point. I wonder if he would care to reread it now and see if that opinion has changed, In fact why don’t you all read it again and see the points made that are suddenly becoming significant. The bubble within a bubble – - the economic sell out of Glendale.

What are the new sky is falling numbers out of Glendale’s City Hall – - $500 million and complete collapse? Why? Really? Forty home dates of hockey is going to impact a City putting in a Casino and can increase concerts? Something is not right. Where’s the real deal Glendale? Who is holding your City hostage? Why is Gary Bettman really bending over backward to spare an embarrassment that will make Jerry Moyes’ pale in comparison?

In this interview, I love the fact that Olsen points out to Resnik that although hockey is important to many, there is the case against pulling the plug on Grandma that they are involved with that is challenging the U.S. Healthcare reform. Sorry Canada, that is a little more important!  Here’s where I insert my own shameless plug, proving I am a hypocrite when I say that I hate self-promotion.

And where did my article end up? Infowars.com and the leader of the battle against the attack on that nasty Constitution.

That’s right, you may have heard of Alex Jones, if at no other time than on the View with Barbara Walters, as she was ready to blow a gasket. You see, Jones wanted to cram in as much stuff on the bad things that have been done to Americans and the Constitution that he took every opportunity to tell us all about “building 7″ in New York on 9/11, the killing of innocent Iraqis during the war on the weapons of mass destruction, and on and on. Whoopie Goldberg looked like she was taking downers for a change, trying to get Jones to slow down. It was a crazy few minutes, but a victory and a way to further the Charlie Sheen cause .

Is it any wonder Sheen is basking in the glory of destroying the New World Order and is as popular as ever for the campaign of “Winning”? The next time you watch Saturday Night Live try to separate the attack from the humor and you will see something far from funny. The system controlled by mainstream media is scared, and they are threatened.

You must excuse Charlie for looking disturbed and overcoming substance abuse. Anyone who has come from that place and is still effective at bringing attention to the issues of the day is brilliant. It is an interesting dilemma – - do you look at Charlie the man and say he is at this time a little off, or do you look at the bigger picture and agenda, and realize he truly is winning? And by winning, again, we mean drawing attention to supporting the Constitution, peoples’ rights, and freedom. Or, did you miss the whole point? He may come across as the madman across the water, but the point is the people across the water want to hear him.

When Whoopie Goldberg said she wanted to figure out what was happening with Charlie, they should have let Alex Jones have an hour to explain that Sheen’s problems happened when he wanted 20 minutes with the President. In fairness, if the system wanted to vilify you, you’d go a little nuts too!

So hockey, right?

Point is, hockey and politics, and the U.S. Constitution is all in focus. The Coyotes in Phoenix and the other NHL teams are all affected by corruption and taxpayer abuse by a sports league that is no different than the rest. John McCain has come forward to support the Coyotes because of political issues. We have seen a lot on this site, and we have shown a glimmer of those over time to you here. We have seen the politics, the ties to land developers, and we have seen the game within the game.

When we realize that the game of hockey has been held hostage to land developers and financiers, we will look at the next bubble within a bubble coming to Edmonton right now, and see it for what it really is. Edmonton is being held hostage by the “convenient excuse” that the taxpayers should own the arena, just like in Glendale. The real reason is because the taxes are guaranteed to those behind the financing, and they can score many times the value of the arena in interest payments over time.

Glendale saying that their economy will collapse makes no sense to anyone on the surface. It’s what you cannot see that is the issue. Will we let it become the issue in Edmonton too? Are they the replacement cash cow?

Will we, as Canadians think we are living in a protective bubble, where Stephen Harper is not part of the Club? We have looked at him too here on this site.

It’s time to realize hockey is politically driven. It’s time to join the party and start winning too.

When Resnik asked Olsen if Canadians were making contributions to the Goldwater Institute’s battle against the case for keeping the team in Glendale, it made me laugh.

It made Olsen laugh too.

As an issue for a Canadian like Resnik who really knows better because of his political analysis agenda, it shows that there has always been a more important mission. It has been a mission of human rights and freedoms. It’s all about a bigger issue of righteousness! It’s about people having rights. Like Jerry Moyes! Remember him? The man served proxies instead of compassion?

When are we going to understand there are bigger issues than hockey? And you can’t just throw money at that! In short, any Canadians who think throwing money at the Goldwater Institute will motivate them more to take on the NHL had better “get over themselves”!

It’s about WINNING!…. DUH! Winning the big picture not the little hockey picture!

While Darcy Olsen does it the politically correct way,  Charlie Sheen lets it all hang out – -  what’s the difference?  He is in essence saying the heck with all things politically correct because politics is corrupt people!  They built him up and gave him power and now he is turning the machine against themselves- – a stroke of brilliance!

Who does he need to answer to? Nobody! Who does Goldwater need to answer to — normal everyday people fed up with the system of taxpayer abuse. So, Mr. Bettman, I hope that clarifies things a little bit. After all, you did want to know who Goldwater is accountable to.

It’s all about loving the preserving of human rights! It’s about upholding the Constitution that represents those rights. And in Canada, we need to pay careful attention too.

A man’s actions define him. Sheen is overcoming all odds to show just how intelligent he is. Playing the nutbar to bring attention to himself to further the bigger issues.

If Lindsay Lohan’s drinking can bring her fame and attention, Sheen is getting more than 20 minutes with the world. Why bother trying to influence the President when you are more popular than Obama? Refreshing and fresh! Free and carefree! Liberated and fanciful!

So thank you Charlie Sheen for taking your popularity to a meaningful level, despite what they are trying to do to you! Oh, and Darcy and the Goldwater Institute: Many thanks as well.

And with Charlie Sheen’s popularity hitting an all-time high, there is something about him that attracts people. Perhaps it is the underlying truth! Maybe he should have this to say, being “the most popular man in the world”,

” Stay thirsty for the truth my friends!”

Sure would hate for you guys to lose your Oilers because you didn’t build that new, taxpayer-owned arena

Pathetic people, pathetic.

Look at all the NHL waste in the deep southern U.S. But let me guess, those are “bigger markets” than the relatively small market of Edmonton. Do we have that right?

In Tampa Bay, you can get nosebleed season tickets for a whopping $5.43 per game (yes that’s right people in Toronto, that decimal is two places from the right – - you got it!). Toonie movie Tuesdays may have some competition after all!

In Phoenix Glendale, excuse me, you can get that same Tampa experience for $10.73 per game. Still not bad.

How about Edmonton? You know, the small market team that will have to build a new arena to stay sustainable? That will be $31.53, or almost 6 times the Tampa deal, and almost 3 times more expensive than for the Coyotes.

It’s called market demand, and what someone is willing to pay. It also means that hockey in Phoenix is a little more popular (perhaps) than hockey in Tampa, but by no means is it as popular as in Edmonton.

So, the Edmonton fans are willing to part with more money as an entertainment choice than the two other markets mentioned above.

And that brings us to this point: How can Gary Bettman and Daryl Katz tell us that to sustain the hockey franchise you will have to build a new arena?

Put another way, why is Gary Bettman not saying to Glendale that hockey is not sustainable with these revenue streams in Glendale?

The only factor that makes it okay to live with NHL welfare in Glendale is the fact that the team was put there with the development of the Westgate Arena District.

What, therefore makes Glendale worth preserving is the “deal” that was put in place to build the arena and the development with a city-owned arena similar to that planned for Edmonton.

Revenue streams are a complex issue I am sure Gary Bettman would tell us. He continually mentions these words to explain why these new complexes and infrastructures must be built. In other words, Katz who made his money in pharmacies, and Bettman who is a lawyer and sports league commissioner are suddenly experts in urban planning.

Like they have looked at the demographic of Edmonton? They studied the flow of immigration and how residents are attracted to the city? They have looked at the social costs and issues that are competing with the all important “revenue dollars” of Edmonton, and can immediately, with conviction say this is how taxpayer funds should be spent? Really?!?

I like to call a con a con.

The truth is they have something to sell and the issue of answering the objections to their “sell” is how this will truly be money well spent. How will it benefit the city compared to other investments? Taking hockey away from Edmonton is the emotional sell that is supposed to cloud better judgement. The threat is often mentioned strategically to let its audience say, “Well, if it means we don’t lose hockey, then I guess we had better go with it, something, anything, as long as we keep our Oilers!”

There’s a term for this type of persuasion – - it’s called Coercion! Here’s the state of your city Edmonton, and if you don’t do this, then you will be worse off, you will likely lose a lot – - the hockey team, the “world-class status”. In short, you will become losers! You don’t want to be losers do you? We don’t mean this year’s record of the Oilers either. We mean real losers. Nobody will want to come here from other parts of the world for education. You won’t be able to get businesses to locate here, and yada, de, dada, dada day!

Daryl Bonar who ran for mayor  in 2010 said he was not a big fan of PPP (Public-Private Partnerships).

We have a lot more digging to do, but we will leave you with this for the moment, Gary Bettman has said that the Goldwater Group are not elected officials, and if they want to make an impact they are not part of Glendale’s City Council.

Really Gary?

So, Goldwater should not be suggesting what belongs in another department so to speak?

So why are you and Katz telling Edmonton how to spend its tax dollars, and how did you guys become experts in urban planning, development, and tax planning?

I think there are other people whose noses are now out of joint.

It’s all about tapping that taxpayer with publicly-owned arenas and more important providing revenue streams of taxpayer debt payments to a bunch of guys nobody will ever truly see.

When Katz was questioned why he didn’t just build the arena with his own money, he had all kinds of reasons, the least of which was just how complex and mind-blowing the financing would be. Yes, paying into perpetuity is the goal Mr. Katz, isn’t it? Getting at the taxpayer bucks.

If Katz owns the team, why doesn’t he own the arena and leave the taxpayers alone? Why do they delve into other areas of urban development as well. It’s hockey he is the owner of right? Don’t do this mega complex and the Oilers disappear? Hello, anybody out there?!?

Yeah, just how complex those “revenue streams” must be as Gary Bettman explains it as an excuse to why arenas need to be built. Impossible to figure out for the average shmo. And that’s the whole point, isn’t it?

Glendale is in the ‘Moody’s’ for a favorable bond sale: Can the “White shoe boys” make it happen?

The pot calling the kettle black.

So, Glendale has been downgraded by Moody’s rating agency, but not low enough to completely put them in the extreme risk category. Despite the fact that their debt is much higher than similar municipalities throughout the country.

The Winnipeg Free Press gives us the latest:

The bonds have been given a rating of A1, the lowest of the “A” ratings, and will officially go on sale Tuesday. The all-important interest rate to be paid on the bonds has not been released but it must be made public before the sale period begins. Industry speculation has the rate being pegged anywhere from six per cent to nine per cent.

In its report, Moody’s downgraded Glendale’s general obligation rating to Aa1 from Aa2 but revised its outlook on the city’s general obligation and related ratings to “stable” from “negative.”

Which begs the question. Who do you have to do a favor for to ensure a little bit better rating? Come on, we all know the game is played!

There are foreclosures in Glendale that have the folks who used to own the homes wondering what happened. There are pension plans that are wondering why they bought securities where homes were bundled in, and turned into derivative investments based on no underlying asset.

There are lawsuits going on in court where banks are trying to foreclose on people’s property, with just one little glitch – - they do not have proper title to go through with it.

The bankers have done what they do best. If you happened to catch Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory show when he confronted the Goldman Sachs “white shoe boys”, as Gerald Celente would say, the big argument they had was, hey, if they let us do it, it is their fault. Pass the buck 101. If you can get away with it, why not? Have a look at this segment on the Wall Street episode:

Notice when Ventura questioned the fact that bankers worldwide seemed to come from Goldman Sachs, including the “Canadian National Bank”.

Should we in Canada then be surprised to read headlines like this?: “

Mark Carney exempted Goldman Sachs from Flaherty’s income trust tax

Flaherty’s income trust was structured by Mark Carney in such a way that only the little investor was taxed and the big guys were given a free ride. Not only were the big guys given a free ride, this tax was imposed in such a way that the big guys were able to prey upon the small investor and expropriate wealth from the small investor in the amount of some $35 billion.

The white shoe boys, eh Gerald? Hmmm…

Can any adult say bribes and payoffs”? Gerald, stop, your killing me. “When you retire you want a piece of it back”, Gerald, yeah we do. But I guess the white shoe boys, strategically placed from the ivy league of finance have other ideas.

The rules for these guys are different than for the average folk, right?

False numbers, corrupt investment brokers, Congress held captive or manipulated by corruption. But it could not have easily been pulled off without the co-operation of the ratings agencies. Why were they so accommodating to ensure the con took hold? The above clip tells us that Moody’s was part of the conspiracy to bolster the true value of the toxic waste known as the derivatives from Wall Street bankers like Goldman Sachs.

The L.A. Times and others in 2008 let the cat out of the bag further on Moody’s malfunctioning:

At issue are ratings on so-called constant-proportion debt obligations, investment vehicles that borrowed heavily to bet on credit-default swaps. (Swaps, in turn are a way to bet on, or hedge against, companies defaulting on their debt.) Trying to understand CPDOs will make your brain explode, but suffice to say they were designed by Wall Street’s rocket scientists to pay investors high returns at what appeared to be low risk.

That’s exactly how many sub-prime mortgage bonds were structured, of course. Whoops.

Ironically, we had the CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase, Jamie Dimon telling us all not long ago to beware of municipal bonds because they are risky.

The same bond rating agency is now determining the value of Glendale’s bonds?

Once you are part of a scam related to other people’s money, who can trust you again?

Beware investors.

Moody’s has failed to advise the true state of Arizona. Under fire from the illegal drug war that is encroaching the borders of Arizona as we have reported before.

The “long-term” risk is the issue. Stability is the issue., Uncertainty of the economics of Glendale and the U.S. as a stable investment is in question, and not what should be supporting Glendale’s bond bid. But that information wouldn’t help the cause much would it?

Oh, and did we mention the Goldwater Group is still ready to pounce too?

“Scuppering” the one world bank plan (by not allowing the G20 bank tax)

Bank reform like healthcare is a major deception

Did you hear the one about the big insurance companies in the U.S. actually writing the U.S. Healthcare reform bill?

No, it’s not a joke. It’s actually a sad reality.

The Democrats may have been misled, evidenced by Nancy Pelosi’s comment that we need to approve the  (healthcare) Bill to “see what’s in it”.

No, that too actually happened, and unfortunately is not a joke either.

The rule of the day in world politics, being played out in great measure in the United States is that what appears on the surface may in fact be the complete opposite (hey George from Seinfeld,  here we come again).

Bring it now to current day, where the argument of the G20 is to instill a “bank tax” that will be used as a fund to bailout the future economic crises as they arise. Oh boy, can we see the pattern here?

There are predictions on the financial street that the next big financial bubble will be in the film (aka Hollywood) industry, as to date this industry has not been pillaged by the greedy investment bankers. I think we can safely say the bubble will be blown up, financed by the big bank investment houses, and at the same time, be hedged by the same financiers. Call it creating a crisis that the big fellas can bet against and ensure that the failure comes to fruition.

I love the smell of Goldman Sachs being exposed in the morning, don’t you?

For more on this prediction, you would be wise to check out a very funny economic predictor by the name of Max Keiser

Max claims the film industry is worth $10 billion per year, which effectively means the bankers can parlay that into a $200 billion derivative bubble. They will carefully and systematically collect all the fees they can before imploding the industry, and in the words of Keiser, leaving the “carcass” to rot. Keiser has a way to bring the heavy news in a way that likely helps him stomach it – with extreme humor.

Another example – Keiser let us all know that the gods are calling for bankers to be sacrificed to the volcano in Iceland, as a way to revolt against the corruption, greed, and devastation they have caused God’s people! Told ya he was funny. I had to laugh for a long time when he revved that one. I could feel that joke coming, and it was even funnier when delivered.

Here is a video on the inside scoop on the Greek economy

Notice the comment from the video that people in Greece need to protect their pensions.

You see, pensions represent economic freedom and wealth needs to be stripped in order to effect world government.

The powers that be, hidden by the banner of the G20 are now pushing for bank tax for future bailouts.

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is working hard to avoid Canada being pulled into this power grab, and he on behalf of our country is fighting this move.

So today’s Sesame Street word of the day is “scuppers”.Oxfam claims that Canada is looking to scupper the tax

“All eyes are now on the G20 heads of state summit in June,” Oxfam said in a statement. “It would be shameful if rearguard action from Canada scuppers a bank tax after the IMF has given it a stamp of approval.”

Scuppers meaning to defeat or ruin (the plan), and to that we should all say go Jim go! I must say I am getting very impressed with the government in Canada I still must take with a grain of salt (and magnifying glass), but is showing signs of resisting the global movement of taxation at all levels, where the funds go to a global banking cartel looking to crush economies like Greece and Iceland, and others (hint: us).

Oxfam claims that climate change must be fought to battle starvation and poverty. Hmmm, quite the opposite to the reality as pointed out by Lord Christopher Monkton, and leads one to question how climate change legislation that will raise food prices will actually make less people starve. Danger Will Robinson!

The deceptions run deep indeed!

So, we must continue to scupper these global powers.

In the words of Webster Tarpley, we must fight the Wall Street Cancer and ban hedge funds

Far from being some arcane or marginal activity, financial derivatives have come to represent the principal business of the financier oligarchy in Wall Street, the City of London, Frankfurt, and other money centers. A concerted effort has been made by politicians and the news media to hide and camouflage the central role played by derivative speculation in the economic disasters of recent years. Journalists and public relations types have done everything possible to avoid even mentioning derivatives, coining phrases like “toxic assets,” “exotic instruments,” and – most notably – “troubled assets,” as in Troubled Assets Relief Program or TARP, aka the monstrous $800 billion bailout of Wall Street speculators which was enacted in October 2008 with the support of Bush, Henry Paulson, John McCain, Sarah Palin, and the Obama Democrats.

Tarpley says that Obama is a puppet put in power by Wall Street and parodied on Saturday Night Live, there is much evidence to support this allegation

We can thank God for men like Keiser and Tarpley to bring the truth in the current economic crises, and point out who are the enemies of the people, and why they must be exposed.

Because what seemed on the surface to many looking at healthcare reform in the U.S. as a means to control the insurance industry, the opposite was true. The insurers were looking to control and monopolize healthcare, and control the variables of risk and cost, and using the government as their tool to effect their plan.

And, with tax on the banks, the derivative bubbles can further put the wealth from the people in the hands of the global elites in a two-fold measure – tax that will be passed to consumers by the banks in the form of higher fees, and bailouts on economic bubbles that are rigged to fail.

This, bringing us closer to putting the smaller financial institutions out of business until we are left with a one world bank, controlled by world government.

So take your local news with the grain of salt it needs. Look at where the publication comes from and what political side it represents.

As we get closer to the world economic crisis affecting us all, discernment will be vital. We can all do our part, no matter what walk of life, to spread the word that there are issues of world importance, and we must take compassion for our fellow-man to new levels.

Jim Flaherty did a good thing, and it did not go unnoticed.

Pre-requisite to the New World Order: “Gangster Government” in country and sport

In the NHL we had Jerry Moyes stripped of his rights, and served a proxy to relinquish any remaining rights in hope that he would not put his hockey team into bankruptcy.

An asset that Moyes had was virtually proven to be worthless to him as far as gaining anything from the “fire sale” situation he was put in.

In our attempt to tie in the problems in America and the world, to that of the issues in the NHL, there are parallels that do indeed transcend the NHL with similar issues.

Look at the issues of the bondholders of Chrysler that were messed over compared to the union, that Michael Barone eloquently described with the words that now stick, a “Gangster Government”.

Yes, a  Gangster Government is underway in the United States, and the politicians and powers that be are hoping that the public blindly trusts their elected officials to do what is right by them.

If enough confusing legislation is rammed to Congress at the last minute the hope must be that the politicians will not have enough time to pay attention and will, in essence give up, succuming to the “numbing” of the barrage of tyranical rule.

In the youtube video below, pay careful attention to the parallel situation as described of the unfair treatment of some GM dealers over others. Who you know, and Monty, let’s make a deal comes to mind. What happened to fair and equitable treatment?

Pay attention to a GM dealer that was slapped a piece of paper, relinquishing her of her assets in the dealership; having to give up the service contracts; and not being able to sell off pieces of her asset- Jerry Moyes’ situation, but in a different industry.

Does this not sound like the “rent a turkey” franchises that the NHL imposed on Jerry Moyes, as he tried to maximize the value of his NHL team by selling to the highest bidder?

Does it not bring back the issues that some owners were treated better, without proxy, not by due process of circumstances, but by relationship, and possible power plays? The comparison of Jerry Moyes’ NHL imposed proxies to the NHL helping of Tom Hicks when he decided not to pay his bills. Six months of takeover planning behind Moyes’ back compared to the treatment of Hicks, that had the NHL bending over backward in his defense.

Sorry if I'm so tainted I don't just see a fan of the Sox in this picture !

How about the concession demands of Jerry Reinsdorf, chosen by the NHL as the suitor for the team, when Jerry Moyes could not get concessions on the table with the City of Glendale? Does that not sound like one GM dealer being favoured over another, and given another chance for redemption?

We could go on and on, but you get the point.

Whether it is the government buying off or otherwise making side deals outside the law, or the NHL interpreting and abusing its constitution, the reality is the gangster nature of both are meant to help one at the expense of the unfair abuse of another, and that is not acceptable. That truly is tyrannical and gangster in nature, and the sooner we all see that the picture is being painted both in industry within, and country, and world as a whole, we will never be able to stop it.

It’s time to wake up to the reality of the little and big picture, and tell the powers that be that the jig is up!

Jim Balsillie’s choice words help explain makeiteighteh’s current direction

Jim Balsillie: Likely knew the answer would be spiritual in nature

Jim Balsillie’s frustrations had led him to use the term “angels”. Could he see a much bigger picture for the reason he could not land an NHL team for Hamilton?

It may seem extremely strange to some regular readers of this blog to find a new direction.

The focus has turned from hockey to what you might seem as a spiritual, “wonder why the world is messed up” investigation, complete with conspiracy theories, 9/11 rehashing, climategate thrashing, and on and on.

Why in the world has makeiteighteh.com gone “rogue”?, you might be asking. For the same reason why Jim Balsillie figured he was looked as a rogue.

The answer lies in the roots that this web page has had.

If you noticed, the direction we took from the beginning was support of Hamilton hockey, but the underlying root was injustice – the injustice to Jerry Moyes and to Canadian Hockey.

Jim Balsillie knew something was wrong in the NHL when he decided to take a shot at the “side door”.

Without putting words in Balsillie’s mouth, my interpretation is that this was going to be a war, and the victory would be as much in exposure of corruption as it was in acquiring an elusive team.

Perhaps Balsillie knew that a team under the circumstances was unlikely – but perhaps Jim Balsillie is still searching for the ultimate reason there is so much resistance.

Makeiteighteh.com delved, and will continue to delve into the complicated world of how professional hockey in the NHL seems to have meshed with the very infrastructure of America. We might just see that it is bigger than America.

Reliable sources have advised us that there seems to be a monopolization of sport, and without being able to prove global ties and strategies, there is proof that the “players”  in the monopolization efforts are gaining large in the bigger, global  (new world government) strategy. Much like with climate change, cap and trade legislation that will lead to government appointed “golden boy” organizations getting the “green” contracts, squeezing out the competing industries, jacking up prices of goods, and reducing jobs.

Jim Balsillie used choice words when he said:

“I know what side the angels are on and the entrenched interests don’t like it,” he said last May.

You see, Jim Balsillie is indeed a man of integrity with roots in fair business practices, and looking at industry with an eye to fairness. He can likely see where unfair business practices have taken away from the ethics of industry, in this case the NHL.

The monopoly powers of MLSE may only tell a small story compared to the bigger picture the “globalization” of the world, which would include sport would entail.

We contacted the Competition Bureau only to be assured that they would be monitoring the situation, and if the MLSE issue became a factor they would be all over it. Great fellas, thanks. Maybe you can promise that level of involvement when you know full well that with the way things are structured, it would never get to that phase anyhow. Easy to look good when you have little to prove in the end. That would be consistent with a Canadian Government that had talks with the U.S. authorities, that in all likelihood said it will never get to the MLSE issue. Clever fellas, clever. We in Canada wondered why the Competition Bureau wouldn’t go after MLSE anyway, and the fact is they didn’t. This to me suggests a close link to the powers that be in both countries working together. For whose benefit is the big question. Perhaps two country heads that are working for a common cause could explain the situation. What if they are both henchmen for the global elitists, the Bilderberg Group, and the bigger picture?

The heads of countries are necessary, but so are other key players in this world game.

In the “global”, new world government strategy, giving power to a few in monopoly efforts is the key. We saw evidence of this in our research and investigation into the NHL.

The bankruptcy court was enraged at the apparent pushing of Jerry Reinsdorf at the expense of fairness, and we were off to the races to find out more.

Suffice it to say, when you are reading about current issues in this blog, we have not delved too far off the path. We will return to answer the question of why in the world we are discussing world events, power struggles, and the like.

In short, there is method to our madness. Until we can tie the New World Order to the other evidences of World Government and Corruption, I suggest you keep an open mind to a much bigger picture, that at the outset we realized was transcending hockey and sport.

We are going to start to look at world leaders and question how their actions fit.

We will be keying in on Stephen Harper, and why he seems to be running the Canadian arm of the New World Order, instead of listening to the democratic process of his country.

No watchdogs will howl at how Canadians are being denied the right to know what the ruling party is doing in their name and with their money; what generals and ministers aren’t saying about Afghanistan prisoner torture or how an unreformed RCMP polices much of the country without civilian oversight.

The argument that the so-called conspiracy theorists have is that the politicians have been promised something in the new World Government. Has Harper had his price met, and is now a patsy of the global elite? Well, we will certainly monitor his behavior closely from this point as he takes on the “dictator” role. Sure fits. His persona is closely matching his good buddy Obama from the U.S. Branch of New World Incorporated, isn’t it?

Don't let the nationalism fool you: The new flag these gents support is likely not linked to our national identity

That nasty little thing called the American Constitution and the Canadian Charter are just getting in the way, and they must find ways around them.

Our pledge from this point is going to focus on exposing how the “actions” fit the global elite puzzle. The rhetoric will likely not match the actions, and perhaps it’s time for the opposition to call for a serious look at the “new” motives of the Bilderberg’s golden boy in Canada.

Yes, if you are listening Mr. Harper, we are going to be on your case – you can bet the climate change hockey stick graph on that!

Better use those Blackberries for better communication

Bettman said whoever takes the team will have to rework the lease.

The only consistency in the Coyotes’ case has been the lack of “ownership” and responsibility displayed by the league’s commissioner. Everyone else pays the price, and it’s the new owner’s job to solve the $800 million dilemma too!  Pass the buck not the puck…

In stark contrast to Bill Daly’s recent comment that the NHL should work its own deal to address the Coyotes arena lease, according to Bettman, after meeting with Glendale officials:

The commissioner said he did not expect the NHL would be the one to re-negotiate the lease.

And you would think with the “take a number” crowd forming to sign up for those huge losses, the negotiations would be easier:

Bettman said half a dozen potential buyers have come forward with interest in the Coyotes in Glendale. As for the sparse crowds that have plagued the team so far this season, Bettman said the sale to a permanent owner would turn that around.

And to that I say roll  the laugh track!

Maybe Glendale is tougher than we all thought, and are going to surprise us here. The NHL and the snowjob they planned to sell the city might be the biggest mistake of all. The stone wall of Glendale may be coming to lurk the NHL as it has others along the way. This game is over!

The $796 million to break the lease would also break the NHL, and likely send Gary Bettman to the unemployment line.

The snow (aka snowjob) in Glendale has stopped, and  toques off to Glendale!

The NHL sold a bill of goods to Glendale and Jerry Moyes, and now the city is going to stick it to the NHL.

The NHL deserves what it gets at this point, and if Gary Bettman thinks it will take to the end of the season now to sell it, then he is deciding to mess with the 29 other owners in this league too.

We must ask – with six groups supposedly chomping at the bit, why wait? You would have to figure one would be okay with assuming the lease and taking this team on now, wouldn’t you?

Time is money – big money!

Tick, tick tick. Where is that calculator? Oh, here it is.

Like the debt clock Senator John McCain used to have on his website showing the National debt (like he was responsible for none of it himself – the nerve!) let’s recalculate how much the Coyotes might be costing the NHL by the minute. Oh, what fun!

Okay, let’s assume $60 million. I will be generous in calculations  as I will use a full 365 day calendar, even though the league does not run year-round.

At $60 million in losses for a year, every month, that costs the owners of this league $5 million.

Each day the league holds the team,it costs the owners of the other teams $166,666 collectively (or $5,747 each); each hour, $6,944; each minute, $115; and every minute for each of the  29  other owners- $4.00.

Almost $5,800 per day per owner and their is no hurry to find an owner?

But it’s okay, because it isn’t Gary’s personal dime. He has all the time in the world to play around with the owners’ money. At least Bettman is consistent in approach. He didn’t care about Moyes and is proving the same consideration equally among other owners.

And, I haven’t seen a lot of press on how happy those owners are now, and how much they stand behind the commissioner, have you?

Glendale has become the pitbull that has its teeth firmly planted in the arm of this league, and it isn’t letting go.

There has definitely been a lack of communication and forethought when looking back on this adventure.

Had the NHL sided with Moyes and Balsillie, and convinced Glendale to take that $50 million this nightmare would have been over.

It’s part two, and the sequel stands to be even better than the first.

Perhaps the Blackberry will be a reminder of the mistake.

As each owner in this league looks to send Bill Daly and Gary Bettman an email or text, or BBM, let them remember that this could have gone away a long time ago. Or better yet, perhaps they should advise the team of Bettman and Daly that the losses will first come from their salaries. Watch how fast the team gets placed then!

Yes, gone are the words “viability”, “vitality”, and others of urgency  from Bill Daly. The quest to save this franchise does not exist as it did when it was convenient to use as an excuse. The cronies at the head office are leaving it to rot, and the remaining fans to choke on further uncertainty. What a crock!

What’s the new game?

As Judge Baum so eloquently put it, the league should really have considered “passing the puck”.

As mentioned, there has been consistency from Bettman in at least one aspect. When the going gets tough, he points the finger of responsibility and blame firmly on ( insert the name of anyone but Gary Bettman himself).

As a commissioner, the $800 million lease penalty is the boss’ responsibility. For that Bettman is yet again trying to pass the buck!

In the real world, that type of  CEO would be “outta here”!

Quick update

This will be brief this time :)

Just a note to advise readers that the City of Glendale, AZ came to the site on October 19th and read Patrick Romanoski’s article on why the City of Glendale would not accept the $50 million offer.

At this stage we might ask why?

Are they realizing now that they should have sided with Jim Balsillie?

Where is the NHL and it’s bail out of this franchise? How much will Jerry Moyes be able to get out of this team when the day is done?

What true precedent will be set at the end of the day for abused owners taken to the cleaners in this NHL?

And for those critics that think we are bashers of the NHL, please remember one thing.

We, the bashers are likely old enough to remember when hockey seemed pure, wholesome and really meant something. The current administration of this league has tarnished the value of the game for many of us, and we would like to see positive change.

It’s starts by being fair and equitable to the owners in this league that make it possible for the fans to have their team.

Let’s not foget that.

The Study of Man: An education we can all share

There has been a true education that the followers of the Phoenix Coyotes bankruptcy case can attest to.

The story of a man who brought a flashlight to the dark caverns of the NHL and it’s operations, and helped to shine some light on things far from respectable. That man of course is Jerry Moyes. Mr. Moyes is continuing his battle as we know, in an anti trust suit against the NHL, which will likely further to humble the organization.

The MLSE in Toronto, continues to be humbled, as the arrogance of charging (and actually raising) high ticket prices has been met with backlash from the fans that have finally said enough is enough.

As an almost poetic justice, the team in Toronto has not yet won a game, and reflects an organization that truly needs to eat more humble pie before this process is done.

What can we all learn from this experience?

What can we all learn from this experience?

A story of man –  how he thinks, operates, feels, and manipulates.

Interest on several levels – political, economic, legal, sociological, psychological, and spiritual.

What compelled me may have compelled many others. This case quickly transcended sport, and mere hockey to represent something bigger.

For some, like me, it was a spiritual lesson in how an organization and structure can be humbled and brought to it’s knees. Where greed and corruption and those that seemingly sense they have immunity to discipline can quickly find themselves to be the mere mortals that we all are.

Wealth, power and greed can become exposed in a heartbeat, and all the money and power can not stop the process.

The hockey case in Phoenix, Arizona has never been, nor will ever be remembered as just a hockey team that was looking to be sold and moved north. No, there is far more interest and intrigue to be “just” about hockey.

As the months had sailed by, one of the most interesting aspects of watching who were visiting were the hits from the various education facilities.

I have started to look at some of these again, and I want to share with you the names of these as I come across them again.

To think that this case could be used in teaching on the various mindful disciplines is intriguing. we should continue as a people to examine the far reaching implications that this case has exposed.

Again, these are partial lists, and I apologize for that.

We also had several law offices visit our site that I will not mention here, and I do not think it would be appropriate considering they could have been directly involved at some level with this case.

And of course, we had the NHL office themselves visit on at least two occasions. Interestingly, when we called that Jerry Moyes was the vicitim of a squeeze play, and second, when we reported on the story of the NHLPA.

Kind of interesting in the timing of those visits by the NHL.

This story has touched many of us on various levels. It has never just been about a hockey team.

How man treats man, how man takes advantage of his fellow man, and how a man is impelled by greed or other corruption to use others to get what he wants.

It touches on all aspects of education and our lives.

The NHL at the end of this process will have learned many lessons. The new NHL may be a far removed version of what it was prior to May 2009.

Not really in, but not really out; not really approved, but not really disapproved

For the bullet summary, please go here. Yes, that’s right, a history of the desert turkeys and the story of why the team never flew north. As Les Nessman said on WKRP, “as God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly”. Oh the humanity!

Let’s not forget the memorable words of Bill Daly and the NHL……that they need to get this team out of bankruptcy, and show stability.

Then, when the NHL has the chance, what do they do? They put the brakes on and claim they will take their time and choose the best course of action.

Does this not yet again fly in the face of their original plans?

And attendance of 5000 last night at Jobing.com arena can in part be attributed to the NHL and it’s dragging of their heels. Way to go boys!
The turkey vultures heard there is an opportunity with a wounded Coyote - and they are on the hunt!

The turkey vultures heard there is an opportunity with a wounded Coyote - and they are on the hunt!

Oi!

Bizarre does not begin to explain the ongoing drama in the desert over a hockey team the Toronto Maple Leaf fans would trade in a minute for.

The turkeys on the ice (Toronto) are drooling at the early success of the turkey franchise in the desert that are playing really good hockey.

And as mentioned by Steve Scott on a number of occasions on Make it Seven:

If  Hamilton got a hockey team, Toronto would want one too

So true Steve, so true.

But this little blip is not about the turkeys losing money or the turkeys on the ice down the QEW highway. No this little note is on the neither in, nor out, here nor there, approved nor disapproved, quiet little group known as the Ice Edge.

Apparently according to Daryl Jones, they are ready to buy the Coyotes, and have reached a deal in “principle” with the City of Glendale on the arena lease. As one Make it Seven ranter has said, why not make the deal to the court so everyone can see it? Well that is “never the intention” is it?

No, this deal with Glendale has to be completed outside the eagle eye of the law.

Last night there were a reported number of fans just shy of 7000. Bad, right? No, worse. The actual number of fans was closer to 5000 in the stands. Two winner and one loser last night. The Coyotes and Toyota win, and the Blues lose. Well at least the Toyota seat back sleeves will protect the seats from wear and tear while promoting the automaker. Ironic when Honda is the official automaker of the NHL. Ah, what the hay, nothing adds up anymore in this fan’s NHL.

Back to the boys.

We reported at the outset that an analysis of “why these guys care”, brought out some interesting comments.

  • Click here to be linked to a partial list of Glendale foreclosures

Click here to be linked to a partial list of Glendale foreclosures

the buying of the Coyotes is a business decision

  • there are an awful lot of foreclosures in Glendale, and a lot of hockey fan imports into these homes by Canadians
  • the real estate market is due for an upturn
  • the collection of property taxes in Glendale has to be an issue

Okay, starting to refocus on the picture here?

When Ice Edge does not expect to turn the turkey to a swan for a couple of years, and the NHL has always looked for the deep pockets of NHL owners, a la we need to tap your wealth when the turkey gets really hungry, you start to wonder (again).

Where is the support of the NHL?

Rah, rah, rah, right Gary and Bill?

Notin, nada, zilch.

And why?

The only boys that seem to truly care are in town and talking with the City about revenue sharing that will not “directly” impact the residents (unless they have a house in trouble no doubt):

In the meantime, Ice Edge has managed to reach an agreement in principle on an arena lease with the suburban city of Glendale, where the Coyotes play. Daryl Jones, one of the principals of the Ice Edge group, said yesterday the leased will not include any direct subsidies from the city of 250,000 people, but there will be ways for the team and the city to share revenue.

Maybe just not hockey revenue.

When we look back on the previous articles on the Ice Edge boys, we learned that foreclosure revenues are lucrative. An example cited the ability to buy a home for the cost of the back taxes, and turn a $200,000 plus profit.

And that’s just one property!

What if there were 100, or 500, or 1000. Well, at $200,000 per pop, 100 means revenues of $20 million. At 500, that revenue is now $100 million, and sorry, to do the math on the 1000 properties, my little calculator has given up the ghost.

Deep pockets, eh?

What if a City didn’t really care as much about hockey as it did collecting taxes? What if there were a whole bunch of homes that were vacant, and owed taxes for, and mean a double edged sword – no collection, and no future tax prospects.

What if there was a company that offered to use a hockey team as a loss leader, and stroke the City for the deal they could conjure up off the ice?

Two winners and one loser yet again.

City of Glendale and Ice Edge win, and the NHL loses.

Kim tells us the attendance figure is not there for this game on NHL.com - a picture is worth 5000 words.

Kim tells us the attendance figure is not there for this game on NHL.com - a picture is worth 5000 words.

Five thousand fans showed up in Phoenix which could reflect the economy. I wonder how many vacant homes and tax issues would be reflective in just 5000 people showing up to a luxury expense event like hockey?

No deep pockets, but perhaps a two year window to capitalize on some properties in Glendale.

No wonder Ice Edge is not really approved, but almost impossible at this point to reject.

The PR disaster that the NHL is enduring now has the vultures hovering in the desert skies.

The Toronto Maple Leafs fans, and the people of Hamilton aren’t the only ones drooling to get a hold of some great turkeys on ice.

The vultures can smell the opportunity in the desert skies……and their prey may be those that have lost not just a hockey team, but their homes.

Death, taxes, and the showing up of the  ‘opportunists’ are the three certainties in life!
